Hi Buddies,
We have discussed about various things like Friendship, Travel, Helping others, and self improvement in our previous post. This time I am here to share my views on our day to day food. I hope you will enjoy and gain something out of it once you have complete reading this.
I didn't arrange the things in order but I am sharing which comes in my mind please bear with my order.
Let us start this with basic ingredient of our daily life, we all love Chicken (Veggie's please forgive me) if we are non-veggie. I didn't find any perfect example for veggie's still I can give a example like Pa-pad, Chips etc items which cannot be prepared with out oil. Yes, you got it, now we are going to talk about Oil which we are using in our daily life for cooking. If you notice the bowl or container where we store the oil it will have waxy substance around it. Do you know why we have a waxy substance in oil container? Also check with your Parents did they have experienced or noticed this kind of waxy substance in 70's or 80's. Most of them will give same answer as "No". Then what is causing this difference here?
Are you using sunflower oil for cooking? Do you know the fact that sunflower oil is extracted from its seed not from sunflower? Generally to make a litre of sunflower oil you may need 4000 to 5000 grams of sunflower seed. Now let us know about the price of sunflower seeds. If you have a habit of doing online purchasing you will get 250 gms of seed for 150rs. So now the equation is down to 600rs/KG. I can hear your mind voice or someone will say that wholesaler might get for lower price yes I do agree with you. So I am reducing the price for wholesaler to 200rs/KG is this agreeable? If so in order to get one litre of sunflower oil the company has to spend 800 to 1000 Rs. Now it is a task for you, search for the sunflower oil price for a litre irrespective of brand.
As of now we have calculated the price only for seed, then to process, manage the process, packing, distribution and promotion lot of steps are there before it reach the hands of consumer (Aapaaviyana nama). So please think what makes them to provide the litre of oil for very little price.
Genuine question will you do any business without profit? Then how the sunflower oil companies are getting profit with this? The people who got affected behind this is coconut form owners, groundnut cropper's. Because before sun flower oil our ancestor's used only ground nut oil, Rice bran oil (thavutu enai) and coconut oil. Yes, you got the point I am requesting you to use only those. It is not for helping people who are affected, it is also good for your health.
I would also like to share my taught about our pure white sugar, do you think it is really good for health. I am not saying it is not bad for health but it might affect our economy. Now you will be thinking how using sugar will affect our economy, rite? Okay before starting this discussion I would like to ask you a question before sugarcane what we used for getting the sweat taste in food? If I am not wrong we used jaggery before sugar. When jaggery was in use there were lesser number of people affected by diabetics was the result of study. Is sugar is causing or root cause for modern diabetics I am not sure or I am not confessing about that.
How use of sugar is affecting our economy? I will share the few points with the comparison with jaggery
1. Water is essential for every crop when compare to palm tree, sugar cane crop need minimum 5 times of water.
2. From sugar can crop we will get only sugar cane, but form palm tree there are different products we will get like ice apple (ada vera onum ilanga nungu than), jaggery, toddy (kallu), leaf vector used to build the strong roof and life time of palm is longer than sugar cane.
So by cultivating sugar cane, we might wasting time, resources (man power, urea, land etc) now tell me it is affecting our economy or not. Please be aware and limit the usage of things which is affecting your health if you not able to avoid it. These things are just an example in my following post I will come up with few other things.
When I have suggested these things to few of my friends, they mentioned that they don't want to live for 100 years or I don't care about it. I would like to tell them that you might not be wanted to live for 100 years or don't care about it but think of your descendant's and if they don't take care of you when you are suffering?
